What is AI photo cleanup and why does it matter?
Real photos have busy backgrounds, shadows and thousands of shades, which turn into messy charts with constant colour changes. AI cleanup removes the background and redraws your subject in a handful of flat yarn colours, keeping details like eyes clear. On our example photo it cut colour changes from over 1,200 to about 300.
Which crochet and knitting techniques are supported?
For crochet: graphgan (single crochet worked in rows), tapestry crochet and corner-to-corner (C2C) graphs. For knitting: intarsia and Fair Isle stranded colourwork. Filet crochet, mosaic crochet and cross stitch are planned next.
What is a C2C crochet graph?
In corner-to-corner crochet each square of the graph is a small tile of three double crochets, worked diagonally from one corner of the blanket. SoraStitch writes every diagonal row in working order with its tile count and whether to increase or decrease at each edge, which makes C2C picture blankets much easier to follow.
Can I trust the written instructions?
Yes. Every crochet pattern is calculated from its chart rather than written by a chatbot, and every pattern is checked so each row adds up and the written rows rebuild the chart stitch for stitch. SoraStitch also flags rows that are hard to work, such as long Fair Isle floats or tapestry rows with too many colours.
How big will my blanket be and how much yarn will I need?
Enter your gauge, the number of stitches and rows in 10 cm or 4 inches, and SoraStitch shows the finished size in centimetres and inches as you change the width. It also estimates yardage for each colour from its stitch count, with a 15% margin. Always check against a swatch and your yarn label before buying.
Can I sell what I make from my patterns?
Yes. The blankets, cushions, bags and other pieces you crochet or knit from your SoraStitch patterns are yours to keep, give or sell. Just make sure you have the right to use the photo or artwork your crochet pattern or knitting pattern started from.
What happens to my photos?
Charts are made in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device when you create a crochet pattern or knitting pattern. Your picture is only sent to our servers if you choose AI cleanup, and it is not stored afterwards. Saved patterns keep the chart, not the original photo.
