Picture blankets without the maths

A graphgan is a blanket crocheted from a graph, one stitch per square. SoraStitch sizes the graph from your gauge, estimates yardage per colour with a safety margin and tidies up stray single stitches.

Tips for better results

Plan the border

Add a few rows or stitches of background colour around the picture for a border, and remember to include them in your width.

Swatch before you shop

Crochet a 12 cm square in your yarn, measure the gauge and enter it; yardage and finished size then match your real blanket.

Split big blankets

Large graphgans can be worked in panels and joined, which keeps the work light on your lap.

How much yarn does a graphgan need?

The studio estimates yardage for every colour from your gauge and adds a 15% margin. Check the yarn label and swatch before buying.

What stitch is a graphgan worked in?

Usually single crochet, one stitch per square, changing colour as the graph shows.

How do I change colour in single crochet?

Work the last yarn-over of the stitch before the new colour with the new yarn, so the new colour starts cleanly.

Can I follow the graph on my phone?

Yes — Make mode shows one row at a time, lets you tick off each colour run and remembers where you stopped.
