Colourwork charts, done properly

Charts are numbered from the bottom right the way knitters read them, with bold lines every ten stitches and a colour key with yardage.

Right-side rows are knit and read right to left; wrong-side rows are purled and read left to right — SoraStitch writes each one out for you.

    Pets, portraits, kids’ drawings, logos or holiday snaps all work. The studio opens with intarsia already selected.

    Clean it up and size it

    Let AI remove the background and simplify the colours, then choose how wide it should be and how many yarn colours to use.

    Edit any stitch by hand, then download the chart, a colour key with yardage and row-by-row instructions — or follow along in Make mode.

Tips for better results

Read from the bottom right

Row 1 is at the bottom, and right-side rows are read right to left — the way you knit them.

Use colour letters for printing

PDF charts print a letter in every square, so they still work on a black-and-white printer.

Check before you cast on

The Checks panel shows float lengths for Fair Isle and bobbin counts for intarsia before you knit a stitch.

Can I print my chart?

Yes — download a PDF with chart pages, colour letters for black-and-white printing and row-by-row instructions.

Does it support knitting in the round?

Charts currently assume flat knitting with turned rows. In-the-round reading is on the roadmap.

Can I design a chart from scratch?

Start from any image — even a quick sketch — and paint over it stitch by stitch. A blank grid option is coming soon.

Can I change a chart from intarsia to Fair Isle?

Yes. Switch technique in the studio; the checks and instructions update, and you'll see whether the design suits stranding.
